On 29 March, UK Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner, Dame Sarah Thornton, published a paper to urge police practitioners to prioritize the financial investigation of modern slavery and human trafficking crimes.
The economic profit represents the most important motive for criminals. Financial evidence can oftentimes compensate the difficulty for victims to collect unambiguous evidence that can legally be used for trials. Such prioritization aims at increasing prosecution and facilitating the economic compensation for victims.
