Social workers

  • Recommend potential victims to keep track of the number of days, hours, customers worked and amounts received / issued for a possible compensation action to be initiated later.
  • Ask questions during the intake interview to find out whether there is evidence to be found in the preliminary phase in order to better build up a claim.
  • Investigate why judges declare claims inadmissible due to a disproportionate burden on criminal proceedings.
  • Explain better to the victims what compensation means.
  • Pay more attention to victims of other types of exploitation (such as labour exploitation) and explain that they can join as a disadvantaged party in a criminal case.
  • Give extra attention to minor and foreign victims.
  • Advise victims, if appropriate, to seek professional help (e.g. psychologist), this can also serve as evidence in case of a claim.
